Ludlow is a town in Windsor County, Vermont, United States. The population was 2,449 at the 2000 census. Ludlow is the home of Okemo Mountain a popular skiing area. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 92.5 km (35.7 mi). 91.3 km (35.3 mi) of it is land and 1.1 km (0.4 mi) of it (1.20%) is water. As of the census2 of 2000, there were 2,449 people, 1,060 households, and 658 families residing in the town. The population density was 26.8/km (69.4/mi). There were 3,001 housing units at an average density of 32.9/km (85.1/mi). The racial makeup of the town was 98.41% White, 0.20% Black or African American, 0.16% Native American, 0.41% Asian, 0.20% from other races, and 0.61% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.24% of the population.
There were 1,060 households out of which 24.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.5% were married couples living together, 9.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 37.9% were non-families. 31.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.26 and the average family size was 2.80.
